January 2009 : Volume 11 : Number 1

Greetings Friends in Homeopathy,

Melanie, Dean & TomI trust this first issue of the newsletter for 2009 finds you doing well and coping with the gloom that seems a part of this new year.

As you will see we now have a new format for the newsletter which allows me to keep you up to date more readily.  Because so much comes up between the three monthly newsletters, my plan is to try and send out a shorter newsletter on a monthly basis.  This means you have less to read in one go!

What do you do with your Homeopathic Kit?!

One purchaser says “I took a kit away with me to a State Pony Club event on the weekend and it got plenty of use - both human and equine!!”

And here’s a really well traveled Travel Kit which is now residing in Bangkok, Thailand.  Teresa emailed me to say “The travel kit I bought from you a year ago has served me well through Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, London, Austria, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia and now Thailand... but I need some top ups!”   I’m not surprised Teresa!!

Me personally – I have an ancient 36 remedy kit (frequently refilled) in a drawer next to the bed for when my son appears in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning!  Mum, I’ve got a headache: uum Bryonia.  Mum, I’ve got a tummy ache: too much ice cream – Pulsatilla.  Mum, I can’t get back to sleep I’m so excited about my new game (etc etc!): Coffea.  Mum, my nose is blocked up: Silica.

New Products

Our latest product, a combination homeopathic remedy for Teething, has been selling well and received good feedback.  If you haven’t had good results with the OTC Brauer product, give this a go.

I’m currently awaiting receipt of stock of our very own designer Elements of Health Soft Roll Kits to hold 12 standard remedy vials and a couple of bottles of drops.  I’ll let you know when these are in stock.  This product is made by the family of a Vietnamese lady who lives here in Tasmania and sales help to improve the living conditions of her family and other locals.  One of the first things they have purchased is a western style toilet!

I am always thinking about new and useful products so if there is something you’d like to see but can’t find elsewhere, drop me a line.

Effectiveness of Homeopathy & Homeopathic Immunisation

A positive note for homeopathy came from Cuba where a recent conference on homeoprophylaxis (homeopathic immunisation) reported on the distribution of five million doses of a remedy made from the conventional Leptospirosis vaccine.  Leptospirosis is a rat-borne infection which follows the hurricane season.  Although not published yet, results showed an 80% decline in reported cases of the disease in the areas supplied with the remedy.  The remedy was produced by the same state run vaccine institute which makes the conventional vaccine.  Research papers will be published this year.  An exciting result which may have big positives for developing nations facing insurmountable health costs and a far safer option than conventional vaccination.

What is a Registered Homeopath?

These days there are ‘homeopaths’ and there are ‘homeopaths’ but our profession is one of the first to set up a registering body to ensure the public are able to access the best in care from practitioners with the highest standards of training.  Check if your practitioner is a member of ARoH or AHA (Australian Homeopathic Association) to make sure you are getting the best for your family.

Homeopaths remain the only group of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practitioners in Australia to have created a National Register which has a defined role, different from an Association.  AROH (Australian Register of Homeopaths) now takes care of the registrations and regulation of the profession and functions in much the same way as the registration boards of other health professions such as chiropractors, physiotherapists and nurses.

This system of self regulation was designed to provide an effective, transparent and accountable structure which ensures that courses offered are of a satisfactory standard and that practitioners are appropriately qualified, and they work within an ethical and professional framework, guided at all times by the standards of practice developed by the profession.  AROH currently meets all Federal Government requirements for self regulation.

Until next time,
Warmest wishes

Melanie
