Homeoprophylaxis (Homeopathic Immunisation or HP)

Homeoprophylaxis has been around since 1798 when Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, first used homeopathic remedies to succesfully protect people during a smallpox epidemic.

Since that time it has been used around the world in many situations by homeopathically trained doctors to protect against a variety of infectious diseases (eg meningococcal, leptospirosis) with scientific studies published on the outcomes.  The world health organisation upholds homeopathic immunisation as an effective means of protecting against disease based on these studies.

HP often appeals to those parents who have investigated the process of conventional vaccination and made the decision not to go down this route but want to have some peace of mind about protecting their children's health safely and naturally.

Recent studies have shown that not only do homeopathic remedies give an average of 90.4% cover, but that the process of using an HP program actually produces a better level of overall health than that seen in children who have had no form of immunisation at all. 

An HP program can also be used effectively and safely in children who have had some conventional vaccinations already, and the process may produce a form of clearing of any vaccine side effects.

Covering all of the relevant childhood diseases which are vaccinated against conventionally, families may choose to do the whole program or just those diseases they are most concerned about. Additional diseases can also be covered as required.

The HP kit comes with detailed instructions and a record card which can be used as proof of intention to protect your child.  I offer a standard program for children starting the program from birth and an amended program for those starting later.

HP is not generally accepted as an alternative to conventional vaccination by schools or child care centres, however, it is currently your right to choose not to vaccinate your child.  Completion of a Conscientious Objection Form should ensure you receive any government benefits offered.

Benefits of Homeoprophylaxis (HP)

1. HP is extremely safe. The medicines (or remedies) used contain no chemicals or poisons and produce no toxic side-effects. Homeopathics do not interact with other forms of medicine.

2. Instead of targeting the pathogen, bacteria or virus that causes the childhood disease, homeopathic immunisation has its effect by naturally strengthening the resistance of the individual to that particular disease. For this reason, childhood diseases cannot develop resistance to the prophylactic immunisation remedies.

3. Because of the way homeopathy works, homeopathic immunisation can protect against diseases for which no vaccine exists; for example, the 'B' strain of meningococcal (meningitis) disease that is responsible for most infections in countries such as Australia and more recent viruses such as Swine Flu and Avian Flu.

4. HP protects when vaccines may be unsuitable, e.g. those who have already had an adverse vaccine reaction, the malnourished, the sick or immune-compromised, and those allergic to vaccine materials.

5. Recent Australian research carried out by Dr Isaac Golden based on over 15 years data, shows that HP provides an average of 90.4% protection against childhood infectious diseases. This figure is consistent with overseas studies. It also compares favourably with the 59-95% protection rates offered by conventional vaccines. 

6. HP is easily administered. One dose usually consists of a small, round, sugar pilule (ball) that is taken by mouth.  Most children find it easy to take!

The Homeoprophylaxis Program

The HP Program is easily self-adminstered and contains 15 remedies and instructions, including information on protecting children further during an outbreak of a particular childhood disease.

The remedies are administered monthly at the beginning of the program, reducing to bi-monthly as the program progresses. 

A consultation is required to dispense a kit, plus receipt of an immunisation consent form (see below). We discuss details of the pregnancy and birth, your child's health to date, family medical history (or just the family medical history and the pregnancy details if the child has not yet arrived), and take time to answer any questions you may have.

To purchase an HP kit you are required to sign an Immunisation Consent Form confirming that you have undertaken some research into the homeopathic process, have made your own decision and understand the implications of choosing HP for your family.  The form is required before we dispense your kit.

We will provide a questionnaire for the basic information required about your children/family and gather the rest of the information during the phone consultation.

We have been preparing and selling HP kits for over 12 years firstly in Perth and now in Hobart, and have a wealth of experience on the "whys and wherefores" of homeopathic immunisation versus conventional vaccination.  You can be confident that you will be supported through the initial process and afterwards should you have an issue related to your child's program.

The cost of a kit is $135.00 which includes a short consultation, plus $5 postage.  The kit contains sufficient to immunise two children.  Additional cards are available at $10 each and extra supplies of the program remedies can be purchased as required at $15 each.

It is also possible to protect against diseases which the program does not cover such as Mumps, Influenza, Chickenpox or Diptheria.

IMPORTANT 

For those parents who choose neither conventional vaccination or HP, we strongly recommend constitutional care from a registered homeopath to build a strong immune system and address inherited tendencies, which are the most common reason for health problems in unvaccinated children.
