Pandemics (including Swine Flu)

There has been a lot of media-hype about the potential for a Swine Flu pandemic again in 2010.

I do believe a lot of this is overstated and hysterical, similar to the SARS and Avian Flu epidemics of recent years.  However, I do understand some people are anxious and feel vulnerable, especially with winter coming to the Southern Hemisphere.

While the pandemic of 2009 was named "swine flu", it was actually a form of Influenza A or H1N1, similar to the Spanish flu of 1918.  The form we are currently seeing is a very mild version and any deaths in 2009 were attributed to complications due to other factors or to a different strain of influenza. 

Flu viruses change from year to year and the experts are saying it is unlikely that we will have a repeat of last year's virus, but will now be susceptible to a different and possibly new virus.  Those people who have had the swine flu vaccine may find they are more susceptible to the new viruses floating around due to lowered immunity from the vaccine. 

I have also come across quite a few cases of people having virulent and unusual forms of influenza immediately after being vaccinated.  These viruses are often very difficult to recover from, again leaving the immune system vulnerable to similar conditions.

As always the best advice is good hygiene, good nutrition and quick action with your homeopathics.
