Fear, Anger, Control: the Spiritual Cancers

posted in: All Posts, Spiritual Path | 0

Nobody wants to talk about the “Big C” because many families have been touched by its cold indiscriminating hand, but if we are true to who we are, seekers upon the path, then we should always be questioning the way and the why of things. And in that questioning, we are looking to resolve the issues that hold us back, but not to blame or judge.

But why would I call fear, anger and control Spiritual cancers?

These are the things in life that will eat away at any venture, be it spiritual or mundane, life path or corporate.

Cancer can be caused by many things, environmental, energetic, emotional and physical to name a few. But in the case of our life path fear, anger and control are the limiting factors that will unsettle and eventually destabilise our spiritual growth, possibly without even being aware it is taking place.

Without getting into any conspiracy theories, much of what we are subjected to by way of news or media can also be linked to one or all of the factors mentioned here.

All of the topics mentioned here are powerless if you do not buy into them and give them power.

Control of the life path can be extremely far-reaching as the simple and most profound thing that we are trying to walk upon is now a multi-billion dollar industry, that must be fed and nurtured otherwise it will get out of control and attack its creators.

What do I mean by this? Merely that when we started out with our eyes being opened by some thing or some event, we found very quickly that we had to buy into one belief or another, otherwise we felt left out and not part of the group.

This is when control first takes a grip because you then have to attend all of the right workshops, wear all of the right clothes, buy all of the books that you are suggested to read, and finally you adopt and speak the universal language of the group.

Many fundamental groups and religious organisations use this sort of control to build and manipulate members for the powerful machines that they are, to survive. I am not anti-religion, just concerned about control wherever it comes from.

So I am by this stage hearing that “this isn’t how it is for me”!

If this is the case, then you are one of the very few lucky ones that haven’t done the hard and expensive graft that many of us have.

The only way to break free of any controlling pattern is first to recognise that it exists. Many cult-buster individuals spend much of the time proving to an individual that they indeed are controlled before being debriefed.

Everyone has their concept of what the life path is for them; it is only when we try and impose our views upon another as “truth” does control start to creep in. As Melanie and I have said on numerous occasions, every life path is different and in some cases radically so, and that is how it can be, it just takes a lot more tolerance to see the bigger picture.

Never let control be your method of choice!

Relationships are a testing ground for all emotions, and I am sure that everyone has experienced this battlefield at some time. But that is how it should be as we come together as individuals to then experience life lessons in a union of growth.

Some things work and some never will!

A shared life path can be a very volatile area of growth as we cannot see eye to eye on every single step to take. So often I have met individuals that have parted company from a relationship because their expectations of how things should have been, did not work out. And unless great care is exercised the dividing and remaining emotion that will lead you forward is anger.

Just remember that all of the emotions mentioned here can be of use to us. It is only when they become the reason behind why we do something and rely upon them do problems arise.

I left fear for last as so often it is the motive behind every other destructive emotion and action we can wield. Fear can destroy our journey before we even start, but it can also guide us as long as we are aware of the source of our actions.

Here is a short list, which is by no way definitive, but gives you some signposts to be aware of.

  • Social media: fear of being left out.
  • Friends & family: not understanding your choices
  • Workplace: not being in line with your life path choices
  • Relationships: fear of losing a loved one to change
  • Environmental and world: fear of lack of control
  • Spiritual path: fear of reading from the wrong map!

These are all things that we come across in daily life and by no means just a life path thing, because as you may have gathered by now, the two things are just the same, but some aspects have more attractive names and end goals.

All of the topics mentioned here are powerless if you do not buy into them and give them power. The key is awareness – plain and straightforward. If things are not going the way you imagine they should then take a breath and step back without making any further decisions and wait, the answer always comes from the most remote and least obvious direction.

If you still have questions that you cannot seem to resolve, let me know and we can always write an article that can possibly explain it for you. No names just directions.

Dean Creedy has been a spiritual seeker for over 40 years and has had a focus on the path of the yogic & shamanic traditions for nearly 25. He was drawn to the mystical and metaphysical side of the Indian and Eastern traditions, gaining deeper understanding through the grace of teachers and masters upon the path. In 2003 he became part of these traditions by initiation and adopting and embracing his spiritual name.
Dean trained to become a yoga teacher in India and Perth, Western Australia and from the turn of the new millennium offered regular classes, workshops, and retreats, covering all aspects of yogic & spiritual life.
In 2007 Dean and Melanie were drawn to a tree change in Southern Tasmania, creating an environment where they could achieve a deeper understanding of their respected fields and paths.
He is first became initiated into Usui Reiki in 1994 and trained to become a Reiki Master 1999.
Dean’s approach to the spiritual path and all the pitfalls and challenges is a practical and grounded one, sidestepping the often airy nature of current trends, and always looking for balance in all things.
He works intuitively through the grace of the Masters of many traditions and a session with him may cover many aspects of this, and perhaps other lives, awakening to and deepening your Spiritual path or the causes of blockages in this life.
He does not channel loved ones or noted people who have passed on from this life or has any idea or interest in the next lottery numbers!
