Are you finding winter illness challenging?
Are you concerned about “you know what”?
Do you have children in school or childcare who keep getting sick?
Are you about to travel on a plane at home or overseas?
Have you tried Anas Barb (Oscillococcinum) but need something more robust?
WE ARE NOW DISPENSING WINTER PREP 2021
We are now dispensing the 2021 version of Winter and Travel Prep, aligned with the information shared by colleagues about what is currently most indicated in the northern hemisphere and which filters through to the southern hemisphere over the previous autumn and winter.
Winter and Travel Prep may be updated annually and this year we are covering the newest issues we face in Australia and in the world generally. This is based on research coming out of India, Cuba, USA and UK.
Winter Prep was created as an annual support remedy, containing traditional homeopathics which relate to the illnesses seen in the northern hemisphere in the previous winter. We tweak this most years to reflect flu strains and vaccines and particular viral illnesses that find their way down to us in Australia.
Winter Prep also includes general support remedies which can help with minor symptoms of a cold or similar illness.
Despite being named Winter Prep, it is a useful support remedy year-round for children in childcare or newly at school, or during travel, particularly by plane (see also Travel Prep with which it is interchangeable).
In addition to providing support, the remedy can be used as a remedy to manage symptoms should they arise.
Why Winter Prep?
Colds, flu and viral illness seem to get worse each winter and with overseas travel this means they are circulating all year round. While I used a homeopathic remedy prepared from the season’s flu vaccine in my clinic in the early 2000s, over the past decade I’ve found Anas Barb 200c, a commonly used traditional remedy, to work particularly well. However, more recently it became evident the remedy wasn’t working for everyone and particularly during travel, which can challenge us with change of environment and stress, as well as unfamiliar bugs!
In 2013, after two very challenging winters in Australia, we took time to research and consult with homeopaths around Australia and in the northern hemisphere and came up with a suitable combination based on this information, combining remedies which have traditionally been used at these times.
Winter Prep (and its sister Travel Prep) contains remedies which have traditionally been indicated for some of the health situations we may experience seasonally and during travel, both at home and away.
After dispensing variations of this remedy widely for the past several winters, and sending people overseas with the combination, we now have good feedback on using the remedy both for support and for management of colds, flu, etc.
Travel Prep and Winter Prep are the same remedy and may be used interchangeably.
Ongoing or recurrent illness such as colds, coughs, flu, tonsillitis, etc should be assessed by a registered homeopath as the underlying weakness needs to be addressed. If remedies do not work or do not work well, this is the time to consider individualised treatment of the whole person for better long term health outcomes.
May be used as a support instead of Anas Barb 200c if prone to colds, flu and respiratory illness.
May be used alongside other similar over-the-counter products as appropriate.
