The past few months have been steeped in grief and loss on so many levels for so many people.
While there has been heartbreak of an acute nature – the loss of a child, a parent or a friend, or the loss of a child yet to arrive with us – there has been a connection with and outpouring of other forms of grief, not least the tears for a dying planet and a world which has lost its way!
Over the past months the many astrological line ups which so affect our lives, whether we are aware or not, have brought an energy of change and transformation. And in that process it has pushed us to experience grief on all levels.
For those who have spent many lifetimes on this planet, it has brought a recognition of the layers of grief which hold us back from self-love and love of those around us, which walls off our heart and holds back real joy and sometimes progression to the destination we desire.
For three very solid months almost every client has been swimming through a sea of grief. At times I felt like all I did was give out Natrum Mur in high potency, low potency and everything in between to address and support that deep deep grief that was being experienced.
But what great results we’ve seen and will no doubt continue to see as more and more people connect with their grief on both a cellular and etheric level.
What amazing change people have experienced and what release from something which they had struggled with for so long – often unaware of the cause.
And while no doubt many people had been given Natrum Mur and other grief and loss remedies in the past or taken a few themselves, it is evidently the right place and the right time for some major shifts!
If we consider our lives from the beginning, we can see that grief is one of our major learning experiences. From an earthly perspective our very first grief is leaving the warmth and nurture of the womb to enter this cold, bright, noisy place. This may be coupled with the grief of a mother around that birth experience, if it doesn’t turn out as planned, and also the energy of her own birth, all of which a child is connected with in that moment.
If you’re in a more esoteric space and want to take it a step further back, the decision to incarnate on earth and the experiences you choose for this lifetime, while joyous and exciting, are no doubt tinged with grief. With this incarnation, if our choice is to experience grief, it is likely we are also experiencing and carrying the grief of many previous lifetimes.
Moving forwards through our life on earth, we have the grief of being weaned, of sleeping alone in our own bed, going to childcare, going to school, leaving school, our first love and loss and so on through our lives. Add to that the loss of a parent, a sibling, a child, a beloved pet and we may begin to build a wall to protect ourselves and our heart.
Sometimes this can be a wall behind which we hide ourselves and our hearts, so that we either enter relationships but can’t fully engage or perhaps we don’t engage at all. We find ourselves unable to engage in life or joy in any form and anger may also be a constant companion.
The emotion around a grief can go on for years – forever in some cases – and this is often described as a broken heart.
I have seen clients over the years who present in clinic as if their loss is fresh and raw. In fact it may be 10 or 20 years ago but still they weep as if it happened yesterday and that is how it feels for them. In time this grief may well go on to produce health problems and as time passes and we’re supposed to have “got over it”, there is no longer a question as to whether the grief is the cause of this break down in health and lack of joy.
Depression is of course the most classic symptom of grief, but I have treated chronic coughs, behavioural problems in children, weight issues and recurrent cystitis, all as a result of long term grief.
Loss of a parent or being adopted out as a child is the kind of grief that lasts a lifetime, produces health issues, but can still be addressed years later.
We also inherit the grief of our ancestors and this is so evident when we look at the first people of Australia and the grief which they carry and which we see in their faces and feel in their spirits.
I also frequently see small children who are presenting a grief picture where no event in their short lives has obviously caused this. Every time we look back into the family history, usually at the level of the grandparents or before, we will see a major grief, such as the loss of a mother, the loss of a twin or an adoption.
On a physical level it’s interesting to think that the egg that we were conceived from was created in the womb of our mother, when she was in the womb of her mother. How much grief do we carry?!
On an esoteric level, one could say we chose all of these many experiences to work through and to learn from. Of course we have forgotten the choices we made so they will all be new, so that the experience is as fresh as it can be and the learning the greatest.
While Natrum Mur and Ignatia are the two most common remedies for grief on an acute and chronic level, there are many other ways to treat grief on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels and to nurture ourselves and our souls.
We can treat ourselves with self-prescribed remedies, flower essences and all manner of other treatments, but on an energetic level, a deep acting and often, but not always, high potency homeopathic can cut through a lot of what has been going on for us and remove a layer that nothing else has shifted.
While we are all here to walk our own path, to learn our own lessons and to become our most authentic self, we don’t have to do that in isolation. Part of the homeopathic or Soul Whispering process is an unfolding and unburdening process which is cathartic, revealing and transformational. And every situation is unique . . .
