Lachesis has traditionally been used for sore throats which are worse for swallowing especially liquids, but better swallowing solid food. Pain may radiate out to the ears on swallowing. Often patients may describe a sensation of a lump in the throat.
People needing Lachesis are tyically very talkative, and when sick may jump from topic to topic and they may be quite sharp tongued.
The remedy may be indicated for asthma and other symptoms which come on after jealousy or strong emotions.
The remedy has also been traditionally used for symptoms during the menstrual cycle and during menopause, with all of the above plus irritablity, jealousy, depression, headaches, flushes of heat, in fact a whole range of strong emotions.
Lachesis may also be indicated for bites and stings or eruptions where there is a purplish discoloration or mottled look around the bite.
These are hot patients, who feel worse from heat and are very often worse on waking.
Another interesting and often seen symptom is that they may feel suffocated by clothing, rarely wear scarves or high neck jumpers, and must loosen everything.
Symptoms may start on the left sided and stay there or start on the left and move to the right.
