I wrote this blog back in 2016 and as I read through it, I realised how much has changed in those ten years. Covid19 was such an awakener for so many people, breaking them out of a state of trust and belief in the system and allowing many to begin the journey to come home to themselves.
I thought a little update of the terms and the words would be great right now, because so many people are working hard on their life paths, but sometimes ignoring what is going on at the physical level in the hope that the more interesting spiritual based tools will do it all.
But as we’ll discuss below, we can’t just work at one level and ignore the rest in the hope that clearing our blocks or aligning our chakras is going to do it all. We also don’t want to end up stuck for years in a cycle of working through our trauma at the expense of living a grounded and aligned life.
Life on planet earth is a very physical experience, which can be tough, and it is sometimes easier to want to work at and live in the higher dimensions. Or maybe the physical life is so challenging, that it’s impossible to even begin to look at issues of abandonment or trauma while just getting through each day.
What I love about the way homeopathy looks at a case and works is that we can bring all of the parts together rather like a jigsaw puzzle, until we can see the whole. This is one of the tenets of homeopathy; to treat the whole person and not just the symptoms. Many modalities use the word whole or holistic to describe how they look at a case, but very often the treatment only touches on one level – perhaps the physical or maybe just the mental.
The word holistic is familiar to all of us and brings up many images, depending on your background. It comes from the Greek ‘holos’ meaning whole and it is generally defined as ‘relating to or concerned with complete systems rather than with individual parts’.
This understanding is so often missed, particularly in conventional medicine, where a patient may be told they have two or three separate conditions existing in the body and they must see two or three specialists for their individual diagnoses and prescriptions.
From a homeopathic perspective we are so much more than the sum of our parts, more than a collection of disparate bits and pieces put together like a lego kit, which can be taken apart and made into something else at our will.
Looking at the mind, body and spirit as a whole, all giving us the same message through a complete symptom picture, can bring more clarity to what the body is trying to tell us.
In my blog What is the Life Path I examined the life path from a homeopathic perspective – spiritual, mental, emotional, physical – and how we may resonate strongly on one of these levels. However, we are always resonating on all levels as Spirit and our Soul work together to feed us the nudges to motivate us to change, to step out of the illusion of our life, to be whole.
Health issues are probably the biggest nudges we receive because they are obvious to us. We can’t miss them! Again from a homeopathic perspective of dis-ease, we see that illness often starts on the mental level perhaps with a period of stress, a trauma, abuse, shock, etc. It may even be inherited but there will always be a trigger to activate a state of illness or a condition.
My first question to any patient, whether it’s someone with a bad flu or someone with breast cancer is “what was happening in the weeks or months before this started?” And there is always, always a response that recognises and understands this question. It might be an immediate remembering, in the case of the sudden onset of a bad flu, or it might take a little time over a series of sessions if we are working deeply on something more chronic or more serious.
I see these experiences, these illnesses as part of the lessons we’ve set up for this lifetime. Things we are bringing to life and enacting from an earlier choosing to bring us to our centre, to remember who we are. If we don’t or can’t recognise these lessons, then often we will begin to live a chaotic drama-driven life and this can mean we manifest symptoms on the mental, emotional and eventually, if we ignore for long enough, on the physical level.
Physical symptoms usually mean we’ve been ignoring something for a long time, in the case of something serious. Burying our head in the sand or maybe just unable to get to the bottom of how to deal with what we have experienced. These days time is a big factor and obviously if we are parenting small children, holding down a job or caring for aging parents, it can be difficult to make time for ourselves.
Cancer, for example, is very often something that has affected us deeply on the mental or emotional level which we have been unable to look at or even recognise in order to bring resolution. We may have been in a challenging relationship or tried to be the perfect wife, mother, boss, employee at our own expense, all the while controlling our thoughts, emotions, feelings. Perhaps we have been filled with anger which has no outlet, or maybe we have been hiding our trauma or hurt. We have controlled all of this on the outside with a mask or just with life, while hidden on the inside has been turmoil. Or maybe there hasn’t even been turmoil because we’ve been so good at the suppression, but on some level all of this turmoil eats away at us.
Cancer takes us over physically: silently, unseen until finally it can’t hide away any longer and it is life threatening, dramatic, requiring lots of attention, people rushing around, tests, drugs, maybe even the experience of facing death.
Even our susceptibility to being impacted by our environment, for example through allergies, or being the one in the family who manifests the family genetic disorder, is a trigger for awareness and awakening. And I’m sure we all know of people who have suffered extreme accidents or been born with severe disabilities who, while they cannot heal the physical, have overcome the mental and emotional burdens to be wayshowers and shining examples for others.
Spirit gives us messages in different ways to guide us. What should I do if I feel like that? What is my Soul telling me? I’m stressed, I’m over-tired, I’m doing too much, I’m unwell, and change is required.
What we often dwell on is the ‘why’ of our dis-ease and how to fix it medically. Often we don’t connect it in a holistic sense with the whole package of who we are.
I always love it when someone contacts me and says they have a condition or a symptom and while they’ve had all the tests and maybe are on medication, they know it is much deeper than this and they want to address the whole problem not just the physical.
This is where the power of homeopathy really comes to life for me. Where my investigative and archaeological skills come into play. This is where I become the Soul Listener to the whispering of your Soul. And while I listen, I also feel the energy, because our dis-ease has its own vibration, its own resonant frequency, just like everything in the universe. And by feeling this resonance we can match remedies or vibrations to bring balance, insight and understanding.
With many thousands of remedies to choose from and a whole wealth of them resonating in the higher dimensions, we can all begin the journey to wholeness. The answer is not always to fix the asthma (although we frequently do) or prevent death from a dread disease, it is to return to wholeness.
