Labour (Birthing) Support

Description

Created more than 20 years ago, our Labour (Birthing) Support blend contains gentle homeopathics and vibrational essences to ease symptoms such as pain and fatigue and calm the emotions associated with childbirth, and to facilitate recovery.

The addition of these high vibrational essences to the original mix of homeopathics will help to soothe, centre and support you through the process.

Very useful if you don’t have a birthing partner familiar with homeopathy but you want to support your labour naturally!

Labour (Birthing) Support can be used throughout the labour and will carry you through the first few days following the birth until the bleeding and after-pains subside, and recovery is progressing well.

Labour (Birthing) Support is also well indicated for a planned or unplanned caesarean because of the inclusion of remedies for healing and recovery, but also check out our Surgery Support combination if you have opted for an elective caesarean.

What’s in the Combination?

Arnica, a common birthing remedy, is included in the combination for healing, bleeding, bruising and general recovery, and can be followed with Arnica 30c as a single remedy once Labour Drops are no longer required.

Calendula is a useful inclusion in the event of an episiotomy, tear or other intervention for mum or bub.

Kali Phos is helpful for fatigue.

Mag Phos is included for pain relief.

S.O.S. (our version of Rescue Remedy) helps to support the emotions which may be experienced during childbirth. It can be used for partners and family.

Bay Leaf, Chalice Well Water, Rose Vibrational Essences are included to soothe, centre and support you through the process. They may also help negate the influences of a hospital birth and perhaps things not going according to plan.

Traditionally we’ve dispensed this remedy in drops due to ease of use during labour and beyond. However, recently we have begun offering the remedy in pilules as well.

Dosage for Remedies

These notes are a general guide.

Homeopathy is not an exact science and while we can offer general suggestions as to how to give the remedies, each case will be a little different in terms of how often a remedy may be required to bring about improvement.

With homeopathics, because we are working with energy, not substance, we want to give just enough to stimulate the body to do the job. If your remedy works brilliantly with the first dose, you don’t need to repeat unless the symptoms appear to be coming back again.

Do read the individual directions on each product (both on the label and in the How to Use in the product description) to ascertain whether usage differs to the suggestions here.

Drops

Our products are made up according to traditional homeopathic pharmacy protocols and include a small amount of pure alcohol as a preservative.  You can read the FAQ here on alcohol in remedies.

For newborns,  if you do not wish to put the drops in the mouth, you may apply to the soles of the foot or the top of the head. You can also purchase drops and add a spray top to your order, so that you can spray the remedy onto the soles of the feet. The remedy will work just as well whichever way you use it.

Babies under 6 months – 1 drop or 1 spray

Babies 6-12 months       – 2 drops or 1 spray

12 months and above   – 4 drops

Organic German Sucrose

Give 1 or 2 pilules per dose regardless of age.

Crush between 2 clean teaspoons if you are giving to a baby and you are uncomfortable with giving whole.

Sometimes the pilules can look wet. This is due to the nature of the organic sucrose. The alcohol – which is the remedy applied to the pilules – will evaporate off as you use your remedies. They should not stick together and this does not affect the effect of the remedies.

Homeopathy is about quality, not quantity!

Creams

All our creams are suitable for vegans, due to the way we make them and the based we use.

Directions for Use

Tissue Salts

If you have selected a single tissue salt remedy or a combination, the general suggestion is to take three times a day for up to three months (as per Dr Schuessler’s advice). However, we would expect you would see improvement much sooner than this, likely as soon as a couple of weeks.  If you have taken for one month with no obvious difference, choose another tissue salt or consult your homeopath.

Bottle Sizes

10g pilules: approximately 110 pilules

30ml drops: approximately 120 doses at 4 drops per dose

50ml drops: approximately 200 doses at 4 drops per doses

Our homeopathic remedies and kits are suitable for the management of self-limiting and minor ailments and illnesses and not for the home treatment of chronic, ongoing or serious conditions or named diseases. For any ongoing chronic condition, it is important to be assessed or examined by your healthcare professional or specialist. If in doubt as to the appropriateness of a product to a particular situation, consult your health care practitioner, GP or Emergency Department.

• Take 1 or 2 pilules or 4 drops as required, starting at the onset of labour.

• Add to a water bottle and sip. This is often the best way to administer and then no one has to think about when or how to give.
• You cannot give/take too often. The body will work with the energy of the remedy as it needs it.
• The earlier you start taking the remedy when things ramp up, the more you prime your system to do the job it needs to do.

After the Delivery

• After the birth continue taking 3 or 4 times a day until at least day 3. This is to help settle things down and support the body to heal and rebalance.
• If after 3 days there is still a need for remedies, continue the Labour (Birthing) Support for a few more days or change to Arnica 30c if it’s just bruising and soreness, and/or consider other indicated remedies.
• This will depend on what’s going on. If you’ve had a non-standard delivery and you’re unsure what you need, contact your homeopath for advice.
• We haven’t included a frequency of dose for the birth because every labour is different. You can take the remedy as you feel support is needed for pain, fatigue or even anxiety.
• This might be every 10 minutes if things are intense. As above, popping the drops or pilules into a water bottle or glass is an easy way to take the remedy without trying to overthink the process.
